The ever-changing landscape of educational technology is difficult to navigate, and teachers often feel left behind, feeling under qualified, and under trained. Schools expect technology to be integrated into teaching and learning. Teachers realize technology must be integrated in meaningful and purposeful ways that improve their teaching and student learning, but often don’t know how.
NORT2H instructional coaches are classroom teachers that hold their teaching credentials and are passionate about helping your staff realize the benefits and need for students to experience and utilize technology and technology related strategies in a direct and meaningful way.
Scenario 1: Applegate school district is technology rich, has continually introduced more devices over the years, and most teachers are progressing, but some teachers admittingly know they are still novices and would like help. The teachers feel helpless as technology didn’t exist and was not a part of their training when they entered education.
NORT2H works with the school to determine which teachers will receive targeted coaching. Teachers are excited to receive assistance during a time that is convenient for them -- so no pulling from class for “one and done” sessions. The trainer models the use of specific technologies from the developed goals developed collaboratively with the teacher. Gradually teachers grow in their knowledge and comfort; they understand and apply the use of technology into their instruction.
Scenario 2: John Adams School district is a 1:2 school district (1 device for 2 students) and is approaching 1:1. Their staff is divided into minnows, sharks, and elites. The elites are typically younger and embrace technology, but often feel uncomfortable sharing their successes with the sharks and especially the minnows.
NORT2H, in conjunction with the school, a plan is developed to meet the needs of all teachers, but target those most in need. The SAMR technology integration model is selected and introduced at a large group staff in-service. Once teachers have a framework to understand and identify their current level
of effective technology integration, a custom survey is developed for the teaching staff. Teachers identify their effective use of technology. Many are excited about having a NORT2H trainer provide in-class coaching. Select teachers from across the spectrum see sustained growth throughout the year as trainers share their expertise and knowledge from working with 100’s of teachers.
